Thank you for this interview, Gale. Do you remember writing stories as a child or did the writing bug come later? Do you remember your first published piece?
Yes. I wrote stories as a child. In the third grade my teacher was Miss Black. I wrote a story about a haunted house and a bat living inside. She gave me an A++. She wrote a note on the top that said it was a great story and what an imagination.
I have always loved to tell stories. I used to make up stories, which were plays. Everyone had a part. The neighborhood children loved it.
My first published piece is my current novel (my debut novel) Evolution of a Sad Woman. It is a mystery, suspense, thriller and romance book.
What do you consider as the most frustrating side of becoming a published author and what has been the most rewarding?
Editing and rewrites are the most frustrating for me. I never want to lose the quality of my own writing voice. I must remain true to myself.
The best part of being a published author is hearing from the readers. Each person has a different comment. It is amusing to hear each viewpoint and idea. Each reader has a different favorite character or a favorite part of the book. It is so much fun!
Are you married or single and how do you combine the writing life with home life? Do you have support?
I am married. I have a family. My husband works in his office, and I work in mine. I like to be alone when I write. I write the best when everyone is out of the house. My husband is very supportive of my writing. I do not know what I would have done without him. He actually pushed me into publishing my novel. He believes in my talent and my book, Evolution of a Sad Woman, wholeheartedly.
What do you like to do for fun when you’re not writing? Where do you like to vacation? Can you tell us briefly about this?
I love children. I play with the children in my family. They always relieve my stress and lift my spirits. I read some. I research a lot. I will just choose something I want to know about and go research it at the library.
I love to travel. Our last trip was to New Orleans. I love New Orleans. I actually did a lot of research on a book I am going to write in the future while I was in New Orleans. We had a wonderful time. The food was fantastic!
If you could be anywhere in the world for one hour right now, where would that place be and why?
Italy. I am fascinated by Italy. It is so romantic. I love Leonardo Da Vinci and the old artists, the buildings, the food. I love romance. My husband says I am a sucker for atmosphere. (Laughs) He is right.
Of course, I also want to visit France and the United Kingdom.
Who is your biggest fan?
My husband. He thinks I am wonderful. The fact that he holds me in such high regard makes him pretty wonderful in my book. He is a special man. We have been together for a long time.
Where’s your favorite place to write at home?
I have a bedroom I have converted into an office for myself. Right now, it has no desk and is filled with boxes. I have been unable to find a desk I like. Mine was destroyed in hurricane Ike. So, I write with my laptop on my lap in my living room. I have a leather wing back lounge chair. I kick back and type away.
What’s your favorite library and why?
I have been to so many libraries over the years. This is a tough question. I suppose it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Genealogical Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. I visited it to do genealogical research. I have never felt so welcome by a group of people.
What’s your favorite bookstore and why?
I like Murder by the Book in Houston, Texas. It is busy, but quaint.
I also like Hastings Book Store. The people there have been very nice to me.
Another favorite is a library I visited as a child in my hometown. It is the Port Arthur Library.
Do you have any pets?
Yes. I have a dog. We had a rental home across the street from us for a while. The people moved out and left this dog behind. He found us. We fell in love with him. He is a wonderful dog.
What are you reading right now?
I just started reading Alex Cross’s Trial by James Patterson and Richard DiLallo.
Tell us a secret no one else knows.
Hm-mm . . . if I did that it would no longer be a secret would it?
What’s the first thing you notice when you meet someone?
I notice their eyes first. Next I notice their smile.
Have you ever won anything?
I won a set of tires for my car once. I was so excited. (Laughs). I assume you mean book awards. No. I have not won any book awards. I do not know if I will try in the future or not. Who knows? Maybe.
What’s on your to do list today?
I must finish my interviews and guest posts. I also must work on my rewrite of The Bunkhouse. My characters are bugging me about completing it. I was going to make a big pot of seafood gumbo for supper. Now I have decided we will go out to dinner. I just do not have the time.
I understand that you are touring with Pump Up Your Book Promotion in November and December via a virtual book tour. Can you tell us all why you chose a virtual book tour to promote your book online?
Well, it is flu season. I thought about the bookstores and decided it would be a lot at this time. I do not want all the traveling that is involved. With a virtual book tour, I can stay home in my nightgown and blog. What an easy to meet so many people. I also liked the fact that this tour is archived.
Thank you for this interview, Gale. Good luck on your virtual book tour!
Thank you for interviewing me. I hope I have answered your questions. It was fun!

Good morning, all you bloggers,
I would love to hear your comments or questions about “Evolution of a Sad Woman”, my mystery, suspense, thriller, romance novel. Blog in and let’s have some fun!
I look forward to hearing from you.
GL
I am sorry I have not responded to the comments or questions. I can not see any of the messages except my own. I am waiting on instructions to fix this glitch.
I thank you for your patience in this matter.
GL
Looks like your novel is more of a murder mystery after watching your video at Youtube.com.
Hey Gale! Your book sounds great and you will be happy you took it on tour with PUYB — looking forward to chatting soon !
mystery romance romantic,
“Evolution of a Sad Woman” starts with a murder. But let me tell you – as the men reminisce about their love affairs with Kizzy, you will seen plenty of romance. Imagine five men in love with the same beautiful woman. You will not be disappointed in the romance.
GL
Kim,
Yes. You are right. I am already happy I took it on tour with PUYB. They have been very nice and patient with me.
Thanks for blogging in, Kim. I am eager for our chat.

AFter talking to Gale on my radio show yesterday (A BOOK AND A CHAT) I can’t wait to read this book which is part of a series. There are so many differant aspects of this and the next two or three books which interlink cover many types of writing, including in hewr next book Science Fiction. The words flow from Gale, and with the telling of a good story as important as the writing this is a book for all to read now and follow in future.
Barry
Thank you, Barry, for your kind words.
I, too, enjoyed my interview with you on blogtalk radio “A Book and a Chat”. You were a wonderful host. I hope you enjoy “Evolution of a Sad Woman”.
Don’t worry the sequels will be as good as the debut original.
GL
This sounds like an excellent book, and definitely a genre I enjoy. What are your plans for the series? Who will the next book focus on, and without asking you to give anything away, is this person a character who appears in the first book?
Thanks!
Cheryl
Hello, Cheryl,
In my next novel “The Bunkhouse”, the characters of “Evolution of a Sad Woman” make a brief, cameo appearance. You are given a clue for the next book, the first sequel, to “Evolution of a Sad Woman”.
The first sequel focuses on all the remaining characters. Yes. They are all back. It is several years later. There is a stalker, a kidnaper and a serial killer. Could all of this be tied to the murder of Kizzy all those years ago? Is Kizzy haunting the men once again or has she ever stopped? Many clues will be solved and new ones will surface. Remember, Kizzy’s murder is listed as unsolved in the police files. All this and more will be in the first sequel, “Alana – Evolution of a Woman”.
Enjoy!
GL
Welcome, welcome Gale! A little late getting in here but I made it! I really enjoyed your radio interview with Barry last night. Doesn’t he have the accent to die for? I noticed a Texan accent with you, too! Did you grow up there?
I love reading a good mystery book. My internet connection causing problems watching your video at youtube. Is the first chapter of your murder mystery available online?
Good morning, Dorothy,
I loved Barry’s accent. He is very much the English gentleman. I really enjoyed my interview with him. He asked so wonderful questions. It was very kind of him to blog in this morning with such wonderful comments.
Yes. I was born and raised entirely in Texas. The accent is genuine.
GL
mystery book chic,

Enjoy the free Chapter 1!
GL
Great interview, my best writing companion is my cat. One’s writing desk has to be just the right one. Hope you find one soon.
rebecca,
Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed the interview. My writing companion is my dog. Don’t dogs and cats make the best reviewers?
I am still looking for just the right desk. My husband says I am picky. But, it is important to me so it has to be “just right”!
Thanks for blogging in today.
GL
Some say you can judge a book by its cover. Tell me what the cover represents if anything to the overall story.
mystery mom,
My cover has a story all its own. Everything on my cover was done on purpose. If you look closely, you will notice that the eye looks like a cut-out – a paperdoll. Could this mean Kizzy was a paperdoll? The tears and blood are almost like a cartoon. What could this mean?
All this will be answered in the sequels to “Evolution of a Sad Woman”.
GL
Wow…Gale…I look forward to book #2!
Dorothy,
I am writing on it right now, when I am not on my virtual blog book tour. It is coming along nicely.
GL
I found it interesting that you mention how your characters are nagging at you to get back to them. Even within the short story format I find they do that. But if I’ve given them enough room to play and express themselves they appear to come away satisfied.
I’ve always wanted to use the line “Romance can be murder” . . . just haven’t had the opportunity yet, but it looks as though you have! Well done on the interview. You’re in great hands with Dorothy & Co.
I’m going to try and follow your tour as I can :^)
Thanks, J.W., for dropping by the blog. It was nice to hear from you. Hopefully I will hear from you in another blog along the tour.
Those characters can really nag at you at times, can’t they? You let them play. That is really a great thing to do. I will try it sometime.
GL
You say sequels. How many books? Will each one be a mystery, romance, suspense, or thriller novel?
mystery mom,
There will be two sequels to “Evolution of a Sad Woman”. The second one will be a mystery, romance, suspense, thriller novel.
The second sequel – I am not sure what genre it will fit into yet. Lets keep that a surprise! I think it will be a pleasant surprise.
GL
Well, it is nine o’clock in my zone. I am tired, but happy. I want to thank all the bloggers who blogged in. You made my day!
I want to thank Pump Up Your Book blog for the interview and hosting the blog. It was fun!
Good night to all!
GL
It WAS a lot of fun, wan’t it? Thank you so much, Gale…you did beautifully. See you on the blog trail!
