The Second Half Adventure

Thank you for this interview, Kay.  Can we start out by having you tell us briefly what your new book is about?

Absolutely!  The Second-Half Adventure is about making the most of the second half of your life.  If you’ve ever dreamed of trading in make-a-living for make-a-difference, this is the book for you.  The subtitle says it all:  Don’t just retire—Use Your Time, Skills and Resources to Change the World. It’s a hands-on tool for connecting great workers with great opportunities.

More and more authors are realizing the potential for sales that derives from virtual book tours.  Can you tell us your personal reasons why you chose a virtual book tour to help get the word out about your new book?

So many books are on the market today that it’s difficult for a reader to know how to choose.  An online tour allows an author to give many readers a foretaste of her book and let them know why it would be a good fit for them.  It also allows bloggers to add their own thoughts and reactions into the mix.

Is this the first time you have heard of them?

No, I’ve participated in virtual book tours before.  And I certainly hope it won’t be the last time!

What do you hope to achieve through promoting your book through a virtual book tour?

I want to let people know that everyone, whatever their skills, wherever their past roads have taken them, can use what they have gained in life to help change the world.

Do you promote online through other means?  Website? Blog?

Yes, I promote through my website, www.kaystrom.com .  I am also just starting a blog.

Do you promote through Twitter and Facebook?  What are your links there?

Yes.  I have a Facebook page under Kay Marshall Strom.

What are your experiences with offline booksignings?  Which do you prefer – online or offline and can you give us the reasons why?

I have done many offline booksignings, and I like the personal interaction there.  The downside is the time and effort involved in getting it all together.  Also, such an event is always iffy.  You know the old nightmare about giving a party and no one shows up?  Well, think about doing that in the middle of bookstore!

Here’s a fun question.  If money was no object, how would you promote your book?

Hmmm…. Well, I think I would travel around the world on promotional tours.  I might not sell all that many books, but it sure would be fun!

Thank you for this interview, Kay.  Do you have any final words?

I really do believe in the message of The Second-Half Adventure. We really can have a hand in helping to change the world!  How cool is that?

You can visit Kay’s official tour page here to find out where she’ll be popping in during January and February!
