Terry will be on a virtual book tour with Pump Up Your Book Virtual Book Tours in June and July ‘10 and is here with us today to give his impression of virtual book tours and online book marketing.
Thank you for this interview, Terry. Can we start out by having you tell us briefly what your new book, Live Happily, Ever After…Now! is about?
Live Happily, Ever After… Now! uses age old, time tested secrets (found in NLP, Law of Attraction, Positive Psychology, and Hypnosis) to teach you how to create the life you want! The key is learning how much control you have over your life, your beliefs and attitudes about yourself, others and the world you live in. Once you understand that you are in control (and you will), then you can use the 9 simple steps to begin living the life you want. This is accomplished by teaching you how your mind works and processes information. You will then learn how you already use these same methods, with varying results, to get what you don’t want or in falling short of true success and happiness. Then I will teach you how to reverse this process and develop healthy and positive ways to think, act and feel about yourself and others. Live Happily, Ever After… Now! is also filled with professional, personal and historical examples that demonstrate how it’s done.
More and more authors are realizing the potential for sales that derives from virtual book tours. Can you tell us your personal reasons why you chose a virtual book tour to help get the word out about your new book?
A virtual book tour was the most cost effective and the best way for me to get the word out to a large audience, while balancing my other obligations. It also is an opportunity to create a lasting footprint in the online community, that will direct traffic to my website and work long after the tour ends.
Is this the first time you have heard of them?
No, I did a lot of research about marketing my book and virtual book tours were discussed frequently.
What do you hope to achieve through promoting your book through a virtual book tour?
To generate interest in my book, while promoting myself and doing so in a manner that gives me more freedom and opportunities then offered in conventional book tours.
Do you promote online through other means? Website? Blog?
Yes, my website is www.livehappilyeverafter-now.com and my blog is accessible from this site, as well.
Do you promote through Twitter and Facebook? What are your links there?
Yes, I have a fan page on facebook, it’s Live Happily, Ever After Now! On this site I have my book trailer and a whole chapter from the book in the notes section. On twitter I’m @terrymdrake
What are your experiences with offline booksignings? Which do you prefer – online or offline and can you give us the reasons why?
I don’t have much experience, although will be doing some within a few hours of where I live. With my busy schedule it wasn’t a practical option to get the publicity I want and the online method is much more convenient.
Here’s a fun question. If money was no object, how would you promote your book?
I would incorporate a huge online extravaganza, offering free products and gift certificates, maybe making it a week long event.
Thank you for this interview, Terry. Do you have any final words?
