About the Author books

E.C. Jackson

E.C. Jackson began her writing career with the full-length play Pajama Party. Thirty-one years later, she adapted the play into Pajama Party: The Story, a companion book to the second book in the five-book standalone Hope series. Jackson’s favorite pastime is reading fiction. She enjoys taking the journey along with the characters in the books. That also led to her unorthodox approach to story writing. Her vision for each book she writes is to immerse readers into the storyline so they become connected with each character.   “The Write Way: A Real Slice of Life” is the slogan on her Facebook author page. She feels that if every person reading her books feels connected to the characters, her job is done.

Nikhol Lacey stepped into the muted glow from the wall sconce above the door, grabbed her luggage from the porch, and hurried down the stairs. The path lights cast a shining arc across the yard. Pine scented the air, and fresh-cut grass clung to her sandals.

Guest Blogging at Dear Reader, Love Author

“In ninth grade, I received an A on a short story that I enjoyed writing. The crowning point was the comment my English teacher wrote under the grade: “I doubt the originality of this story.” It made my day when my best friend received an A and the teacher had added the same comment on her paper. My friend had copied the story from a book she liked. But my story began and ended with me.”

Thursday, December 7

Interview at I’m Shelf-ish

“The hope series was important to me because I believe God provided the titles for each book. And then, the characters practically wrote the stories themselves.”

“I never work from an outline. I tried that writing method with my second book, A Living Hope. The first 300 words came nowhere near where I had plotted the story to go. I am a total pantser.”

Book Review at redbookreview@Instagram (A Gateway to Hope Book 1)

The author did a great job writing this inspirational romance story and wrote a great plot. I also liked the message of pushing through despite facing adversity in the book. Overall I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Book Review at The Faerie Review (A Gateway to Hope Book 1)

“This was such a sweet and heartwarming Christian romance. Neka and James seem like such opposites in so many ways, yet seem to fit together so well from the start, like each has something the other is missing. Neka took a leap of faith going to help James, and although it starts as a marriage of convenience, you can’t help but hope it’ll blossom into a love match. James is so outgoing, and attentive to Neka, it’s easy to see why she likes him. By the end of the book, you’ll get to know them so well they’ll feel like old friends. I will note that the religious theme is heavier than in some other Christian/inspirational romances I’ve read, in case that’s not your cup of tea.”

Monday, December 18

Book Review at The Faerie Review (A Living Hope Book 2)

“An uplifting second chance Christian romance, this will tug at your heart strings from the opening chapter. Sadie and Kyle feel so real that you could easily meet them on the street. Sadie is going through something many people have experienced – letting the right one get away because someone else charmed you, only to find out too late you made the wrong choice. I loved the journey that both Sadie and Kyle had to take to try and heal the hurt between them, it felt very organic and not forced or rushed. God and faith are woven into the story, and enhance it, without overwhelming it. I’d say the author’s writing overall has definitely improved since book one, and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series!”

Read My First Chapter: Chapter One: A Living Hope (Hope Series Book #2) by E.C. Jackson

“She was an expert at fooling herself and others, but today her mind refused to be pacified. One could only pretend for so long before the bottom dropped out completely. Truth had a bad habit of intruding into fairy tales. Especially when the make-believe stories were about real-life events.”

StoreyBook Reviews – Review – A Gateway to Hope by E.C. Jackson

“This novel depicts the faith of many characters, but also their strong-willed personalities…”

StoreyBook Reviews (A Living  Hope Book 2) StoreyBook Reviews: Review – A Living Hope by E. C. Jackson

“There is a great supporting cast of characters, and I really liked Cindy and Roland. I don’t know if they get their own book or not, but if they don’t, they should! I like that the author didn’t shy away from this topic and interspersed faith and religion at just the right moment so the book did not feel preachy…”

Thursday, December 21

Book Review at The StoreyBook Reviews (The Certain Hope Book 3)

“Overall, the story (and this series) is about hope, and there is hope in this story. It is also about faith, whether that is internal or external…”

Tuesday, December 26

Book Review at The Faerie Review (The Certain Hope Book 3)

“This was a well-written, emotional romance. My only serious complaint (and the reason I gave it four stars) is Luke is throwing up serious red flags from the moment we first get his POV. The way the story opens with Tara, I was expecting a sweet life after loss story. Not quite what this was, but it was close. Luke (and the story), moves quickly, and some of the peripheral characters made my skin crawl. I really liked Tara, and my heart went out to her. Not just for the loss of her parents, but her experiences when it came to dating. I loved Tara’s group of friends, and I really think they care about her and want her to be happy.”
