Pump Up Your Book Blog Host Spotlight: Confessions of an Overworked Mom

Ellen Because we value our blog hosts, Pump Up Your Book is now putting the shoe on the other foot and interviewing them instead of having them interview us.  We are now offering our readers a chance to get to know our blog hosts and what better way than a personal interview?

Today, Pump Up Your Book is proud to spotlight Confessions of an Overworked Mom , a book blog run by Castleton, Vermont, blogger Ellen Christian.

Q: Thank you for this interview, Ellen.  Can you tell us what is your blog’s main focus?

[Ellen] My main focus is on natural and organic living and on our lives in rural Vermont.  I also do a variety of book reviews that focus on the different genres that my family likes to read.

Q: How long have you been blogging?  Is this your first blog and your only blog?

[Ellen] I’ve been blogging for about two years.  I have one other blog that focuses on fashion that I’ve just started.  It’s called The Socialite’s Closet and the link is http://the-socialites-closet.blogspot.com.

Q: How often do you blog?

[Ellen] I blog several times a day depending on how busy life is at the time.  I blog more in the winter and less in the summer/fall when our gardens are in.

Q: Why did you choose to name your blog, “Confessions of an Overworked Mom”?

[Ellen] I started the blog at a time when I felt pulled in a million different directions at once by my job, husband, kids and homestead.  I wanted a place to sort of keep track of what I was doing when and where and it grew from there.

Q: How do you promote your blog?

[Ellen] I offer giveaways that I promote on Twitter & Facebook. I do guest posts on a variety of natural and healthy topics.  I do button exchanges and link exchanges and belong to a variety of different forums.

Q: What do you do when you’re not blogging?

[Ellen] Lots!  We have several gardens, ducks and chickens and two acres of property.  I work part time and have two children ages 12 and 16.  My husband is disabled and presently not working outside of the home. I love to read and I have a huge addiction to playing Farmville on Facebook!

Q: What do you enjoy most about blogging?

[Ellen] I love meeting new people and learning about their lives.  I live in rural Vermont so we don’t have a lot of neighbors and I’ve never been to a really big city or traveled to other countries.  Blogging lets me learn about other people and their lives.  I also love sharing my opinion about new products.  I used to hate going out and buying something and coming home to find out I hated it.  Product reviews help me make better shopping decisions for my family.

Thank you for this interview, Ellen, and we’ll see you in the blogosphere!

Howdy Ellen! You know, I bet I’d love Farmville…is it addicting?

  2. Out in the boomies (as we would say) at least you have fresh air and plenty of land. Big cities don’t have much of either, so you’re not missing much in that regard.

I don’t know how you ladies find the time to blog and review as much as you do. There is so much work involved–and you raise families too!

  3. Howdy Ellen! It’s great to learn more about you and the family. I hope your children are of some help to you around the house, as it sure sounds like your plate is filled.

Keep up the great work with your blogs. I am constantly amazed with all that is out there, and how much you accomplish on a regular basis.
