Pump Up Your Book Blog Host Spotlight: Rundpinne
Featured — By Dorothy Thompson on March 22, 2010 at 7:49 pmBecause we value our blog hosts, Pump Up Your Book is now putting the shoe on the other foot and interviewing them instead of having them interview us. We are now offering our readers a chance to get to know our blog hosts and what better way than a personal interview?
Today, Pump Up Your Book is proud to spotlight Rundpinne, a book blog run by Centerville, Ohio, blogger Jennifer Higgins.
Q: Thank you for this interview, Jennifer. Can you tell us what is your blog’s main focus?
Jennifer: The main focus of my blog is to bring more people back to reading by promoting authors and their books through book tours and book reviews.
Q: How long have you been blogging? Is this your first blog and your only blog?
Jennifer: I have been blogging since 2006. Yes, this is my only blog and it keeps me quite busy.
Jennifer: On average I blog twice a day. Some days I have more reviews than others.
Q: Why did you choose to name your blog, “Rundpinne”?
Jennifer: This is such an embarrassing question for me. When I began blogging, blogs were relatively new and I needed one to participate in a knit-a-long. I never intended to actually become a blogger; rather I was just planning a site to post progress photos of my knitting projects. Being rather uncreative, I could not come up with a title for my blog and I was getting frustrated. I glanced down and saw the package of Novi Knitting Needles and on the package was the Norwegian word to describe circular knitting needles, and Rundpinne was born.
Q: How do you promote your blog?
Jennifer: LibraryThings, GoodReads, Book Nings, Twitter, visiting other bloggers, as well as participating in memes. I have found them to be invaluable in discovering other book bloggers, as well as finding suggestions for new authors and new books to read.
Q: What do you do when you’re not blogging?
Jennifer: When I am not blogging I am reading my next book or writing up a book review. When I am not doing either of those things I am taking care of my house, spending time with my husband and three adolescent sons, knitting, and most likely catching up on sleep.
Q: What do you enjoy most about blogging?
Jennifer: Meeting and being in contact with so many wonderful people in all areas of the book business from the heads of publishing firms to other book bloggers, each plays a vital part and makes book reviewing quite rewarding. The absolute best moments are when I hear from authors who have read my reviews and I am able to stay in contact with them.
Thank you for this interview, Jennifer, and we’ll see you in the blogosphere!

Thank you for interviewing me.
It was a pleasure, Jennifer!
Jennifer is a fantastic blogger! I love reading her reviews, they are always thorough and well thought out. She’s one of the only bloggers who I trust the book reviews from.
Andrea,
Thank you for such a sweet comment. I am pleased to hear you like my reviews.
Jennifer
I always look forward to reading your reviews. They add a new dimension to my choosing of the next book to read.
It’s really nice to see the interview from the other side. I’ve been very fortunate to have had some wonderful people interview me and do reviews, but they’ve always asked me questions.
While Jennifer didn’t review my book, it was great to see the human behind all the work . . . and anyone reading this who doesn’t think whay they do is work should try it! :^)
Well done, Jennifer!
It’s nice to put a face with the person. Great interview Jennifer and Dorothy. This is a nice way to get to know those bloggers who are so beneficial in helping us promote authors and their books.
