Pump Up Your Book Blog Host Spotlight: Cafe of Dreams

April Pohren Because we value our blog hosts, Pump Up Your Book is now putting the shoe on the other foot and interviewing them instead of having them interview us.  We are now offering our readers a chance to get to know our blog hosts and what better way than a personal interview?

Today, Pump Up Your Book is proud to spotlight Cafe of Dreams, a book blog run by Brighton, Iowa, blogger April Pohren.

Q: Thank you for this interview, April.  Can you tell us what is your blog’s main focus?

April Pohren: Bringing great books and authors to readers everywhere!  To do this, I include book reviews, book spotlights, author interviews, guest posts, virtual tour stops, giveaways and anything else book related that I can think of to add some fun.  I also intertwine bits of personal writing and life chat.

Q: How long have you been blogging?  Is this your first blog and your only blog?

April Pohren: I started about three years ago, but have been truly/fully blogging for about two years.

Q: How often do you blog?

April Pohren: I try to blog daily, however when things get busy or hectic with life and/or the kids, it may only be about four to five times a week.

Q: Why did you choose to name your blog, “Cafe of Dreams Book Reviews”?

April Pohren: I actually just added the “Book Review” portion of late, to enable readers and viewers a better knowledge of what my blog focuses on.  However, my starting title of “Cafe of Dreams” came to me out of the blue and I really loved the sound of it.  Dreams are so important to everyone, in every aspect of life.  Without dreams, life is just a cloak of gray.  My subtitle was once: Where all of your dreams are on the menu and within reach.  I think that sums up an ideal setting.  As far as how that pertains to books and reading, writing has always been a dream of mine, and the idea that I can help promote authors share their dream of writing and storytelling, through my blog, is such a wondrous one for me.

Q: How do you promote your blog?

April Pohren: Word of mouth, Twitter, I just recently formed a Facebook Fan page:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cafe-of-Dreams-Book-Reviews/440193250318 Also, I believe that by visiting with other blogs, commenting and chatting help to draw traffic to Cafe of Dreams.  Anywhere I go online, I try to leave my link behind, as well as adding it to my signature lines.

Q: What do you do when you’re not blogging?

April Pohren: Try to maintain my sanity!!  Lol!  I am a stay-at-home mom of two wonderful children – a seven-year-old girl, who is in second grade and a three-year-old boy, who has started preschool two days a week.  When I am not playing with them or taking care of them (wait, does that ever actually stop?! lol), I read every moment that I can, I also love to play games on my DS and on Pogo.com – I have always been a huge game fanatic, though word type games, rather than action.  I love to blog hop, surf the web, spend time with family and friends and write.

Q: What do you enjoy most about blogging?

April Pohren: The creativity of it.  The fact that, in some small way, I am helping to promote these out-of-this-world authors and “meeting” such awesome people.  Honestly, I could spend an entire day just blogging – searching for interesting items to post about and just coming up with fun things to share.  I have to confess that I feel this awesome rush when I walk into a bookstore and see a book that I have reviewed and/or received an ARC of to review.  There are so many wonderful and delightful aspects to blogging that I love.  Meeting and chatting with other people who share the same loves and desires for reading and books is so much fun and just the fact that, as a blogger, you have your own little corner to call your own in the blogosphere.

Thank you for this interview, April, and we’ll see you in the blogosphere!

April Pohren: Thank you, Dorothy, for having me and for doing this “tables turned” interview with all these wonderful bloggers.  I can’t wait to read about and get to know fellow blog hosts a bit better!
