Dean DeLuke’s first novel ‘Shedrow’ based on a life in racing, inspired by Saratoga

Shedrow Murder. Sabotage. Infidelity. Oh, yeah, and a promising Derby horse. Just another day at the races, at least in the world of Dean DeLuke’s “Shedrow.”

“Shedrow” is DeLuke’s first novel, and in it, the author follows the maxim that says to write what you know.

Originally from Schenectady, DeLuke grew up around horses and racing. “My first trip to the track was Green Mountain, in Vermont, in 1964. I was 12,” he reminisced. “I recently dug up an old photo for Lynne Veitch, whose husband Leo was my father’s first trainer.”
