Life Choices

Q: Thank you for this interview, Judi.  Can you tell us why you wrote your book, Life Choices: Putting the Pieces Together?

Yes. I put this book together because I know so many people with fascinating life stories that will help readers to understand they aren’t alone in the struggles of life and to be inspired to take whatever steps necessary to live a successful life.

Life Choices

Q: Which part of the book was the hardest to write?

The final thoughts. This page must leave the reader with the next steps…what do they do now that they have read the book!

Q: Does your book have an underlying message that readers should know about?

Yes, the underlying message is that no matter where you came from or what you have been through, you can still be successful and happy.

Life Choices - On Books

Q: What was one of your favorite books as a child?

The Secret Garden.

Q: What is your favorite book as an adult?

I have so many favorites, but always I love anything written by Og Mandino or Nicholas Sparks.

Q: What are you reading now?

I have about six books in the process of being read. Five of them are on Cancer and Healing. The other one is a trashy novel.

Life Choices - On Writing

Q: Do you remember when the writing bug hit?

I’ve been telling and writing stories since elementary school. I started writing a newspaper column in high school and I’ve been writing in one form or another ever since.

Q: What’s the most frustrating thing about becoming a published author and what’s the most rewarding?

The most frustrating thing is the promotion of the book. When you know you’ve written a great book that will change people’s lives, you want everyone to know about it and there’s just not enough time in a day to do everything one needs to do to promote a book….and keep writing at the same time.

Q: Do you have a writing tip you’d like to share?

In the self-help genre, I’ve found that if I title my chapters starting with verbs, it gets me moving.

Life Choices - Family & Home

Q: Would you like to tell us about your home life? Where you live? Family? Pets?

I live in Las Vegas with two spoiled Burmese kitties named Shotsie and Brut.

Q: Where’s your favorite place to write at home?

My favorite place to write is propped up in my bed. From there, I can look out the window and see the famous Las Vegas strip, watch the airplanes land at the airport, and see the beautiful purple mountains in the distance. I feel like I’m at a luxurious resort.

Q: What do you do to get away from it all?

I go to Africa!

Life Choices - Childhood

Q: Were you the kind of child who always had a book in her hand?

Most definitely.

Q: Can you remember your favorite book?

I loved mystery stories and westerns.

Q: Do you remember writing stories when you were a child?

Yes, my best one was when I discovered there really was a Santa Claus.

Life Choices - Book Promotion

Q: What was the first thing you did as far as promoting your book?

Threw a big book launch at the Palace Station Hotel in Las Vegas in conjunction with a Health and Wellness Fair that 3,000 people attended. I also put up a website.

Q: Are you familiar with the social networks and do you actively participate?

Yes. I participate in Facebook, Linked In, and Twitter.

Q: How do you think book promotion has changed over the years?

It has definitely gone to electronic media.

Life Choices - Book Publishing

Q: What is the most frustrating part of being an author?

Time. There just never seems to be enough time for writing all the books that are in my head.

Q: What is the most rewarding?

Holding the printed book in my hands.

Q: How do you think book publishing has changed over the years?

It is so much easier now. We don’t have to have a publisher decide if the book is any good or not. We can easily go on-line and find someone to take our stories and put them in book form…and it’s so quick.

Life Choices - Fun Stuff

Q: If you had one wish, what would that be?

To have one more great love before I die.

Q: If you could be anywhere in the world other than where you are right now, where would that place be?

In the African bush.

Q: Your book has just been awarded a Pulitzer. Who would you thank?

I’d have a list of people so long, they’d probably never get me off the stage.
