Thank you for this interview, K.M.  Do you remember writing stories as a child or did the writing bug come later?  Do you remember your first published piece?

K.M. Daughter: Absolutely, we’ve always “scribbled” plots, character sketches, and made up scripts for neighborhood plays.

K.M. Daughter: My sister had an imaginary friend named Charley – all sorts of stories resulted from that friendship.

K.M. Daughter: Technically my first published piece, for a medical journal, was one that I ghost wrote for an M.D., Ph.D. I referred to him as Doctor, Doctor.

K.M. Daughters: Our first published novel was JEWEL OF THE ADRIATIC, a thrilling, enduring memory.

What do you consider as the most frustrating side of becoming a published author and what has been the most rewarding?

Rejection is disheartening and confusing. Appealing to an acquiring Editor is a subjective proposition and at the same time, the publishing business is highly objective. Finding that magical fit with a publisher requires persistence and thick skin. The rewards are plentiful! There is nothing more rewarding to us than hearing the phrase, “I loved your book.”

Are you married or single and how do you combine the writing life with home life?  Do you have support?

K.M. Daughters: We’re both married to enthusiastic K.M. Daughters fans; thank the Lord. And, we’re both executives in our day jobs – a far greater time management challenge as writers than blending our writers’ and home lives. We’ve always been fanatic planners, so somehow we squeeze everything in.

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not writing?  Where do you like to vacation?  Can you tell us briefly All's Fair in Love and Law cover about this?

K.M. Daughters: We love outdoor pursuits like hiking and walking, good food, shopping, and traveling.

K.M. Daughter: Heaven, to me, is Outer Banks, North Carolina and Vermont.

K.M. Daughter: My list includes: Tuscany, anywhere mountainous, Palm Springs and anywhere ocean-side.

If you could be anywhere in the world for one hour right now, where would that place be and why?

K.M. Daughters: Walking the Illinois Prairie Path together. Because that’s the place where we get to be K.M.Daughters, instead of Pat and Kathie, the most.

Who is your biggest fan?

Pat’s next-door neighbor, Doctor Kirsten Zeitler (pediatrician).

Where’s your favorite place to write at home?

We each have an office on the second floors of our homes. Kathie has a big, sprawling desk and Pat writes on a laptop on a little secretary cabinet.

Do you have any pets?

Kathie has a Boston terrier named Marty who has enjoyed starring roles in two K.M. Daughters’ novels.

Tell us a secret no one else knows.

Ha! Maybe it’s hidden “between the lines” of one of our books.

What’s on your to do list today?

1. Respond to interview questions.

2. Line edit a chapter in our WIP.

3. Confirm Facebook friend requests.

4. Do housework.

5. Noodle next chapter of WIP.

6. Exercise.

7. Figure out what’s for dinner.

8. Make dinner.

9. Enjoy dinnertime with DH.

10. Check the DVR list.

11. Write.

Now I’ve got a couple of fun questions for you.  If Tom Hanks, in the movie Cast Away, unearthed a copy of your book, how would that help him find a way off the island?

Hmm… Practically, we’re stumped. Even if he could make enough sparks to ignite the thing, it wouldn’t burn long enough to flag down a rescuer. But if Tom read the book, he’d be transported straight to Chicago.

You have a chance to appear on the hit talent show for authors, American Book Idol, with judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara Dioguardi and the newest addition, Ellen DeGeneres, to determine whether your book will make it to Hollywood and become a big screenplay where you’d make millions of dollars.  What would impress them more – your book cover, an excerpt or your author photo – and why?

Our author photo. Sisters? Who write blockbuster books TOGETHER? It’s the first time such a contestant appeared on American Book Idol and they’d have to snap us up.

You just got word that your book has received the 2010 NY Times Bestselling Book Award and you have to attend the ceremony to give an acceptance speech.  Anyone who’s anyone will be there and it’s your shot for stardom.  What would you say and who would you thank?

K.M. Daughter: Thank you from the bottom of my heart to our Readers who loved us enough to purchase our books. Thank you, Kathie.

K.M. Daughter: I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for our Readers, also. Thank you, Patti.

I understand that you are touring with Pump Up Your Book  in December via a virtual book tour.  Can you tell us all why you chose a virtual book tour to promote your book online?

We’ve toured with Pump Up Your Book before and enjoyed meeting book enthusiasts from all over the country, and the world, while still in our PJ’s and bunny slippers.

Thank you for this interview, K.M. Daughters. Good luck on your virtual book tour!

Thank you, Cheryl. You’re a treasured friend.
