blogging aa 1/29/12 – 2/04/12 Pump Up Your Book’s Weekly Twitterville Roundup

Happy Sunday!

We decided to start a weekly roundup of all the most informative links we have found on the web that we’ve tweeted that have to do with book publishing, book promoting and social media that would be informative to the published and about to be published author.  This week’s tweets include a contest to see if you can guess the goof I made in a trailer (see first link below).  So far, I’ve not had anyone figure it out so the Pump Up Your Book cap is still up for grabs!  Also Sally Collings talks about going on her own virtual book tour and I like how she called them v-tours because not all tour stops land on blogs.  That’s the reason why we call our virtual tours and not blog tours.  Also up is more on KDP Select from Publishing Perspectives.  When you choose KDP Select for a book, you’re committing to make the digital format of that book available exclusively through them and no other vendor. During the period of exclusivity, you cannot distribute your book digitally anywhere else, including on your website, blogs, etc. However, you can continue to distribute your book in physical format, or in any format other than digital. My opinion is I can’t wait to try it  out.  Also up…now I simply love Social Media Examiner.  They never let me down.  I give my perspective to their article on adding signatures to emails, etc., at Literarily Speaking.  Also at Literarily Speaking, we dive into whether you can generate enough material for a book from your own blog.  The Customer Collective put out a great blog post showing us 8 ways to use the social networks to promote our books.  As you’ll note #1 stood out as the best idea to me.  And finally, we’ve all enjoyed how they change Facebook on a moment’s notice (not), Twitter is about to jump into brand pages and I’m thinking this is similar to what Facebook and Google+ is doing.  I’m really on the fence about them doing this, but I’m curious how it can benefit me so I’m sure I’ll check it out.  Enjoy and hopefully your day isn’t wet and rainy like mine!
