Thank you for this interview, Mack.  Do you remember writing stories as a child or did the writing bug come later?  Do you remember your first published piece?

A: Stories have always been a huge part of my life, ever since my grandmother started reading to me when I was really young. I decided that I wanted to become a storyteller sometime during elementary school when I started reading Poe. I felt chills whenever I read one of his stories (and I still do) and I remember thinking how much I wanted to make other people feel the way that Poe made me feel.

I had my first pieces published when I was in about tenth grade, when I had some poetry published in a couple of anthologies.

If you could be anywhere in the world for one hour right now, where would that place be and why?

A: I’ve always wanted to go to London, but I would definitely need more than an hour—especially since it would take me several hours to get there in the first place.

Since teletransportation isn’t really possible yet, I wouldn’t mind spending an hour in a hot tub right now. I love hot tubs and I don’t spend nearly enough time in them.

Who is your biggest fan?

A: I’d have to say my boyfriend. He’s extremely supportive of most of the things I do, even when he thinks I’m crazy for doing them.

Where’s your favorite place to write at home?

A: Most of the time, I write at my desk. Sometimes I write in bed or on the couch. Inspiration can come anywhere, so I don’t discriminate. Although, I have to admit, when I’m in the shower and I get an idea, it can get a little messy in the rush to write it down.

Do you have any pets?

A: Not at this time. I had a cat for many years that died, and I just haven’t had the heart to get another one yet. But I love animals, so I’m sure I’ll get another pet at some point.

You just got word that your book has received the 2012 NY Times Bestselling Book Award and you have to attend the ceremony to give an acceptance speech.  Anyone who’s anyone will be there and it’s your shot for stardom.  What would you say and who would you thank?

A: I know this is going to sound awful, but, to be honest, I probably wouldn’t even go. I have never been comfortable being the center of attention, so the idea of attending an event where all eyes will be on me makes me want to run for the hills. I think I would end up pretending to have a bad flu and instead of going, I’d send a really nice letter to show my appreciation for the award.

I understand that you are touring with Pump Up Your Book Promotion in August via a virtual book tour.  Can you tell us all why you chose a virtual book tour to promote your book online?

A: Since Euthanasia is an e-book, it makes sense to raise awareness about the book online. I have heard wonderful things about blog tours and how book bloggers are so incredibly gracious and generous in sharing the platforms that they’ve built. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to talk about my work wherever I can.

Thank you for this interview, Mack. Good luck on your virtual book tour!

A: Thank you for having me. I appreciate the opportunity to share information about my work with your readers. If anyone is interested in more information about my writing, I’m in the process of building a web site at www.mackfiction.com.

ABOUT EUTHANASIA

When Alex left the clinic that day, she thought she could move on from the rape that left her pregnant and the agonizing decision to have an abortion. That is, until the child she thought she left behind contacts her. Terrorized by mysterious phone calls and guilt, Alex feels her sanity slipping away as she becomes convinced that she must find the man who brutalized her to make a family for her dead daughter.

Anti-abortion crusader Tobin Bartell wouldn’t have it any other way. As The Leader of The Movement, when he’s not organizing protests or giving speeches, he’s orchestrating a campaign of harassment against women like Alex…and plotting to kill the local abortion doctor.

And Tobin has no shortage of candidates for the job: Paige wants money, Courtney wants love, Derek wants to belong. Tobin just wants it done…and it doesn’t matter to him who does it.

Life. Death. Murder. It’s all the same to them.
