Pump Up Your Book Chats with New Adult Author Lilliana Anderson

Lilliana Anderson Bestselling Author of the A Beautiful Series, Alter and the Confidante Trilogy, Lilliana has always loved to read and write, considering it the best form of escapism that the world has to offer. Australian born and bred, she writes New Adult Romance revolving around her authentically Aussie characters as well as a biographical trilogy based on an ex-Sydney sex worker, named Angelien.  Lilliana feels that the world should see Australia for more than just it’s outback and tries to show characters in more of a city setting. When she isn’t writing, she wears the hat of ‘wife and mother’ to her husband and four children.  Before Lilliana turned to writing, she worked in a variety of industries and studied humanities and communications before transferring to commerce/law at university.  Originally from Sydney’s Western suburbs, she currently lives a fairly quiet life in suburban Melbourne.

Interview:

Q: Can you tell us why you wrote your book?

Paige featured in my novel A Beautiful Forever. She had a dark past that really impeded her ability to love and be loved. Readers really identified with her and wanted to know more about her life beforehand.

I had her whole story mapped out in my mind, it’s dark, it’s depressing, at times it’s even erotic. So I felt compelled to write it.

Q: Which part of the book was the hardest to write?

The hospital scene. I struggled to see my computer screen through my own tears at the time.

Q: Does your book have an underlying message that readers should know about?

The whole book is a journey of hope. There’s plenty of gritty human emotion, sex, and friendship. But ultimately, it’s about clinging to the hope, that you can make it through anything.

Q: Do you remember when the writing bug hit?

Yes! My mother in law kept talking about writing a book about her past. But she didn’t know how to go about it. I had always done well with my writing in school and at Uni, so I asked her if she’d like me to help her. The moment we sat down and I started writing – I was completely hooked and was desperate to write a fictional story that had been rolling around in my head for years.

Q:  Would you like to tell us about your home life?  Where you live?  Family?  Pets?

Sure! I live in Melbourne, Australia with my husband and four kids. We don’t have any pets as our lease won’t allow it.

Q: Where’s your favorite place to write at home?

In the lounge room, with my feet up, surrounded by  my family.

Q: Are you familiar with the social networks and do you actively participate?

Yes. Although, I have no idea about Google+. I’m still learning that one.

I’m most active on my facebook author page, and I dabble in twitter here and there as well.

Q: What is the most frustrating part of being an author?

Having to admit that your ‘finished’ manuscript still needs work!

Q: What is the most rewarding?

Having a fan message you and gush over how much they loved your story.

Q: Thank you so much for this interview, Lilliana.  Do you have any final words?

Thanks for having me! And thanks to everyone reading my work. You’ve all been a part of making this girl’s dream a reality!
