Q: Can you tell us why you wrote your book?

When you struggle with self-esteem and defining who you are, it’s invaluable to have someone there to guide you through the rough patches based on their experiences. It’s how we learn. I really wanted to share my story and empower others who may struggle with the same issues surrounding self-esteem and personal image as I have.

Q: Which part of the book was the hardest to write?

The hardest part of the book to write was the beginning. I mean really, where do you start? However once I got going the rest of the book began to fall into place rather quickly.

Q: Does your book have an underlying message that readers should know about?

The underlying message of the book is that lasting beauty starts with reconnecting to who you are at your core. True style is nothing more than an expression of the beauty contained within.

Q: Do you remember when the writing bug hit?

Aside from books I am also a fashion writer. I enjoy covering trends as well as providing personal style advice to novices and fashion mavens alike.

Q: Do you have a writing tip you’d like to share?

Enough cannot be said about the use of an outline. Even if it’s only a rough one; it helps to keep you focused and also inspired as you make your way through it.

Q: What do you do to get away from it all?

To get away from it all, I really enjoy travelling. A new environment is great for shifting gears and winding down.

Q: What was the first thing you did as far as promoting your book?

The first thing I did as far as promoting my book was to get the word out through my social networks. I then followed it up with a blog tour.

Q: Are you familiar with the social networks and do you actively participate?

Yes, I am familiar with the social networks and I do actively participate. It’s a great way to connect as well as explore new ideas.

Q: How do you think book promotion has changed over the years?

The shift to online book promotion has definitely evolved over the years. Whether it’s Twitter, Facebook or Goodreads there is an expanse of channels available to authors for reaching and connecting with readers.

Q: What is the most frustrating part of being an author?

Deadlines. It can be a little frustrating when I have to cut a good idea short.

Q: What is the most rewarding?

The most rewarding part of being an author is learning that my book has sparked a new idea or impacted someone in positive way. It’s a great feeling and really motivates me to keep writing.
